Firsts

Talking on a cell phone.

Alessandra talked on the cell phone with her Daddy today.

I think she may be missing him as much as I am -
or maybe not, because I'm missing him horribly.

She loved it!
Hopefully this isn't an indication of what her teen years are going to look like!
:o)

A Lazy Day!

What did we do today...

We woke up at 7:00 a.m.

We got dressed.

You played with Oma while I did my German lessons.

I ate breakfast with Grandpa.

You played with Grandpa.

We skyped with Daddy.

You napped and nursed and napped some more.

I checked my email and messed around on the computer.

Bud napped.

We ate lunch.

Everyone napped.

You played with your Aunt Katy.

We watched Hee Haw.

We ate dinner.

I got you ready for bed.

You went to sleep.

I wrote this post...

and now I'm headed to bed.

It was a very nice, lazy day.

My Jennamerink!

IMG_2962

Jennamerink is one of my couslings.  What is a cousling you ask?  Well, it's a cousin who's more like a sibling than a cousin.  When she was born I felt like I finally had the baby sister I always wished for.  Today my baby cousling graduated from high school.

How is this possible?

When did she grow up?

When did I get so old?

UUUGGGHHH!
Okay, long enough pitty party!
Back to my Jennamerink.

I am so very, very proud of her.  She has always marched to the beat of her own drum and when you spend time with her you just can't help but march along side her.  She is as smart as a whip, and bullheaded, and caring, and determined, and loving, and funny, and confident, and beautiful, and carefree, and strong, and I could go on and on but all that really matters is that I love her so much!!!

Congratulations Jenna!

I am so proud of you!!!

Colorado here we come!

Alessandra is so Awesome!!

So we've been traveling all day and everywhere I turn all I hear is how great my baby is.  And she is!!  She practiced her screech only three times on the long flight and otherwise we only had a whine here and a whine there.  She slept and nursed and played and was a total delight.  Now I just hope she can get her self adjusted to Mountain Time quickly so everyone can enjoy spending time with my little Sweet Pea.

The Ghetto?!?

So, I don't really live in the ghetto, but...

...there was a raid around the corner - just one street down from where we live.

...the people I see most often are usually drunk - even at 7:00 a.m. when I'm taking the girls for their walk.

...someone was either stabbed with a bottle or smashed over the head with one - now I didn't actually see this happen - I am deducing this from the smashed glass and blood all over the sidewalk that led into a neighboring building.

...my new neighbors, the newest ones that moved in while we were in Berlin, well, they're hookers, and I don't mean they make fishing tackle, although I wish they did.

I know this sounds horrible but  it really isn't that bad,
although all of these things really have happened.

Maybe it's a good thing I'll be in the States for a while!?!

So I want to hear from you - where was the sketchiest place you've ever lived?

Are You an Illegal Alien?

Why no, thank you for asking!

And thank God you didn't ask me that yesterday because, well, I was.

:o/

I never had any intention of being an illegal alien but it was a simple mistake.

Let me tell you what happened.

You see, Jon took Alessandra and I to get registered with the city.

In Germany you have to register with the city you live in,
for example, when Jon and I moved from Highlands Ranch to Parker
we would have had to register with Parker so they would know we were living there.

I thought when we got registered with the city that I was good to go,
not knowing I still need to register for my temporary visa.
And Jon has been so busy with school that he simply overlooked it.

But luckily he remembered and first thing this morning we got in and got registered.

PPPHHHEEEWWW!!!!

I am so glad that is taken care of!

Have any of you ever been illegal?
